Kwikee Step 42 Series

I have a Kwikee Step 42 Series.

The step is in the out position and will not go back in. I can hear the motor running as I press the switch but it doesn't move. It is locked in the out position also. I cannot push it back in so I can take it to have it repaired. Can anyone tell me what they think the problem is? The step is on a 2000 Country Coach Intrigue

Thank you,

If the steps are in the out position , at least the 4 bolts that hold the step assembly to the frame are accessible .
If the motor runs , for more than a second, and you have to move the coach, then remove the motor and gear box , and wire the stairs up till you get the motor/gear drive fixed. If you don't have to move the coach, block the stairs, so they are usable and take the motor/gear box in for repair.
If the motor starts , then stops almost immediately , then the mechanism is binding and the control box shuts down power to avoid burning out the motor. Check for bent components and lube the mechanism.
Kwikee, web site has manuals as downloads, if you don't have one.
The manual PDF file that I have is on another computer that my DW has out of town or I'd post it for you.

I just posted to another thread about something like this...

Look for a link from gearbox to step.

It has a pin to hold it.

You remove pin and steps move.

Should be hole in arm to insert pin to lock step up.

The weather finally allowed me to look at it. It seemed to be the gear in the motor was bad. I went to Advanced Auto Part and bought a 1995 F150 Ford electric window motor for $45.00, and it works fine now. Thanks for the suggestions.
