Anyone with a CC try the LED bulbs in the tail light assemblies? Since the markers are LED and the high mount stop light, any reason why the 1157 LED replacements won't work as stop/turn signal lights and the single contact LED for the running lights?

The only thing I think might not work would be the turn signal. The flasher module may rely on the current flow through the circuit to open and close the circuit to the bulb. If this is the case, I believe their are alternate flashers available that will work with LEDs. Perhaps someone will come on and help with the turn signal question.

If you replace the bulbs, use LED's with the same color as the lens. I tried white LEDs in my toad tail lights and they were very dim. Then I read someplace to use the same color as the lens. Much better.

I just replaced my rear tighlights and turn signal lamps with LEDs. I used white LEDs not the same color as my lenses. I can confirm that the LEDs are not any brighter than traditional bulbs. Not sure why red LEDs would provide brighter output through a red lense than a white LED. I actually thought white would produce better results....but that hasn't been proven to be true in my case.

I did notice that the turn signal flashers are very dim. The turn flash cycle (ON) doesn't result in a significantly brighter output from the normal running light cycle (OFF) So maybe related to flasher module, I'm not sure. Be nice to resolve this issue as it is dangerous. I'm switching back to non-LED in the meantime.

Because of the nature of the light produced, then filtered by the lens, matching LED and lens color makes for brighter lights. Because LEDs draw much less power than incandescent bulbs, the will cause wonky working of turn signals and/or emergency flashers. As said, special flashers are available, or an appropriate sized resistor can be added to the circuit to use the original flasher unit(s).
