Lighted entry handle '04 Inspire

Recently I posted a message wanting to know how to replace the bulb in the plastic entry handle of our '04 CC Inspire. Got some basic advice which made sense to me. Well, today I took the plunge and removed all eight screws and the handle came off the side at the entry door. There are two wires going in the top and somewhere in the upper part of the handle must be a bulb/socket. Pulled on wires and then went to needle nose pliers to try and remove what must be a socket in the upper chrome part of the handle. Nothing broke loose so I tried to separate the plastic handle from the upper chrome part and it broke clean off. No way to access a bulb/socket from this area. Have I shot myself in the foot or is there a secret way to get to the bulb/socket? Any helpful advice would be appreciated or I may have to replace the whole handle assembly to restore the lighted handle.

Wish I never tried this project just to restore the lighted handle feature.

Any suggestions?

Tom

any makers marks?

Maybe take it to local RV place, should not charge anything to open it up as long as you purchase the bulb

Nah, no Maker's Mark I'm spoiled on Johnnie Walker Black. Good suggestion but I broke the clear plastic off in the upper part trying to get to a bulb but no luck so hopefully I can get one that has the same mounting holes or one that the flanges will hide the holes already on the side.

You might be able to get an answer at the Yahoo Country Coach owners forum. There seem to be some very knowledgeable people there as well.

I have heard others mention Flemming Sales in Elkhart, IN as having handle parts in stock. OIf they in fact carry your handle I bet they can tell you how to access the bulb too.

You could always try Bob Vinson at bob@rcvcustomcoach.com or look him up at RCV Custom Coach Service - RV / Motorcoach Service & Upgrades. If he doesn't have one in stock, he can get one for you.

Tom,
Have you tried calling Country Coach Corporation in Oregon?
Give them a call - They should have a solution of replacement part for you.
Good Luck!
Sandy

Yes, I called and talked with Jennifer in parts. She has been very helpful in supplying information and parts before. Seems like there is six different handles that could have been used so I need to send her a photo.

I also contacted Kevin Waite who has helped me in the past with our '04 Inspire. He has the acrylic handles and the hardware and I'm waiting for a price quote. By the way, CC may have some parts you need but your wallet will groan when you get the price. Sure hope they get in gear again, this Inspire is a great machine.

Tom
