M110 PJW3 steering box

I am in need of a new/rebuilt steering box for my 2000 CC Magna. I called CC/Winnebago, they gave me two part #s and said either should work. Could not locate the PJW3 so I ordered a PBQ1. The mechanic says the PBQ1 will not work. No one can locate the correct part. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. The steering box is a R.H. Sheppard M110 PJW3.
thanks in advance

You will probably have to contact Sheppard for a M110 PJW3. That's what I had to do. They will rebuild one once you give them a credit card number. Takes 5 days and ships freight to your location which will probably take 3 days or so.

I have no idea why they don't a rebuilt ones on the shelf to save time but they don't. If you return the old one, they will give you a core refund but you have to pay freight to return it. In my case I think they gave me a $400 core charge refund but freight was about $100.

See this link http://www.irv2.com/forums/f112/stee...ty-458765.html , about 5th post down, for more discussion on what I found and what to expect.

Have your repair shop contact them. That's what I did. My shop used my credit card to pay for the rebuild.

I'll also add that a piece of the square tubing under the box had to be cut out to allow the box to be removed. The shop welded two tabs on each end of the cut piece of tubing so it could be bolted back in place eliminating the need for welding and possible damage to electronics on the coach. A cutting torch was used to cut the tubing.

I am having my steering gear box reworked now. It was pulled out last week and sent somewhere in Dallas to be repaired. My box is a Sheppard M110 PEQ1 which also is not available. I was told by Greg at CC/Winnebago that the M110 PJW would also work. Hopefully I will have the reworked box back either tomorrow or Wednesday to be reinstalled. By the way, I was told that were able to bring the box out thru the front electrical compartment below the driver and didn't have to cut the bracing. They said it was a bear and heavy but doable. From what I have seen online the box weighs 95lbs. As close as our coaches were manufactured I'm surprised they didn't have the same box. I will post if I get additional information that may be helpful.

Thanks for updating. Nice to know there is another path for removing the box. They must have had a few strong people to manhandle the box out that compartment. Also nice to know there is an alternate box for your coach and perhaps mine; knowledge that should help someone in the future.

Additional info:
My steering gear box rebuild has been completed by Power Steer Inc., Dallas, TX (Toll Free: 800-441-2124). The rebuild was completed in something less than 3 days. Since all this has been done thru the shop doing the removal and reinstallation the timeframes are +/-, but it is supposed to be back to be reinstalled tomorrow. The cost for the rebuild was quoted at $800 plus the labor charges for removal/reinstall. The word from the chassis shop (Inland Truck Parts & Service in Denton, TX) is that Power Steer has been excellent in previous work completed for them. Hope this info is beneficial for others.
