Power Take Off. Many of our Country Coaches use a PTO attached to the Allison transmission to run the hydraulic pump for the power steering and hydraulic motor for radiator fan.

Why was all this done to begin with? No pressure? Is the PTO turning the hyd. pump ?Simply, have them put a pressure Gage, rated for above the max pressure of the out put of the pump, and see it is working and putting out the proper pressure.

There is also a "wet" conversion for the PTO that some have had done.

Thanks for the responses. The pto was dry and shredded splines on both pump and pto. still trouble shooting lack of pressure after assembling new parts. Butch Williams suggested a possible bad pump from Sauer Danfoss. Testing now.

Any other ideas?

If the PTO is fixed /working properly.....its up to the pump.......the output of the pump needs to be pressure tested.......when the correct amount of pressure is there, I beleive the items that the fluid is supplying will work.......Power steering and fan drive? is this what/all the pump operates?
Hopefully they get it figured out for you soon, who do you have working on it?

Yes, the pump operates the power steering and the engine cooling fans as it does on ours.
