Mouse intrusion 89 cc
We went out to check something in the coach last night and discovered we had visitors.
Note to self do not leave peanut butter crackers in unit...ate peanut butter but left crackers.
They like pex as well as it is eaten up...photos to come.
This thing is built like a tank and we could not find any point of entry yet, more searching today as we will start repairs.
Checked all we could see with bore camera and no obvious holes and no trails under the unit either.
Funny thing is no smells and with it being in the high 90's low 100's one would think otherwise.
We do have a fan system installed built with 4 very high CFM fans that pull in outside air when inside gets warm so maybe that kept it oder free.
Anyway...looking for suggestions as to possible points of entry from others who have similar 80's generation units.

Was the RV plugged in , if mice got into my power bay up the cord , they could get everywhere in the coach.
EDIT:
NOTE: If you do find dried droppings , take special care with clean-up , some mice carry a virus that can attack your lungs, and it can be contracted from their dried droppings.

They can crawl thru a very small crack. Peanut butter is also one of there favorite foods, trick to get rid of them is to mix the peanut butter with mouse and rat poison and leave in basement where nothing but unwanted visitors can get to it. They will disappear.

Did mor deconstruction to get things cleaned out.
When we completely replaced all plumbing before it was less work!
Only possible point of entry is around steering column where the silicon is somewhat gone and PO he'd tried hose clamps on carpet.
Rest is built such to makes tanks envious.
Going back to town to get roll of blue pex so we have hot and cold different colors and maybe find a roof jack or something for the column as just too lazy to make one...But may need to.

We just fought a mouse battle. Ours were entering where our drinking water hose goes through a "port" into the wet bay. The space between the ID of the port and the OD of the hose was less than a half inch but that was enough. I now have a stainless steel dishwashing scruffy wedged into the space between the hose and the port wall.
Fortunately ours appear not to have yet taken up occupancy and were just transients. Three succumbed to modern versions of the old fashioned snapping mousetrap. the newer plastic versions have hair triggers and frighteningly powerful springs. Don't get your fingers or toes caught in them.

Not answering your rodent extrusion question, but to eliminate your population try this:
A 5 gallon bucket rodent trap. Works, and is free (or almost free). Just Google "Bucket mouse trap". You'll find many how to's.

Confirmed steering column must be entry.
Power cable is via marine Co connector and everything else is close fitting and sealed with silicon.
The steering column is very poorly done and it seems poor repairs were done.
PO must have had intrusion as we found old snap traps.
The column is adjustable lean from the vertical via large bolt and bracket then standard tilt at top.
Next to floor it looks to of had 4 straps at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o-clock that were welded to the floor and held to column then carpet and rubber mat stuffed in then a rubber boot slipped over.only one strap left and easy to get through.
Column just did not feel very solid and now we know why.
Now has 1/8 aluminum plates with a 1/2 hole in both for the column then some press forged aluminum sleeves that are screwed to floor and wrap around the column.
Real solid now and not finished yet.
Still more work needed but it was too hot today.
Photos to come of completed.
We did leave snap traps with peanut butter last night and cot a small rat or huge mouse inside, traps still in place so we shall see in the am.

Here is the lower column flare mount.
Still need to dress up the carpet and stuff but now is time to hit the water works going.
Sorry about the poor lighting as large flashlight went dead and using a hp free one just for the photo.

We thought that was the entry.. £€%÷€£!!!
Set snap traps and got another one yesterday.
Today started working on the water manifolds in the kitchen area and when we pulled out the low point drains we had to get serious with a screwdriver and camera and noticed large gap where the water lines come in.
The water tank is down the center between the frame rails inside an insulated wood box then it has a 4 inch dryer duct from there to the entry point that is above the fuel tank also between the frame rails.
The hole in the floor looks like it was square instead of round but hard to tell.
We could get the bore camera down real easy and it was into wide open space so we are guessing they are running across the fuel tank and coming in via that space.
Stuffed with steel wool for now and will look at blocking the area off above the tank after we finish the water lines.
Traps set and ready...

I doubt it's possible to mouse-proof a coach. We had an '87 CC LTD until downsizing last month. Finally gave up on sealing openings and got three sonic repellers that plug into electric outlets. They're supposed to be beyond our hearing range but... First ones I got drove me crazy with barely audible buzz. Returned them and got Victor brand. Never had signs of mice after that. The sonic repellers were some of the very first things we moved into the new coach.
You mentioned stuffing w/ steel wool. It will rust. I've switched to copper mesh used to keep bats out of belfries or wherever bats hang out. Works for other critters too. Found it on Amazon.
Good luck in the battle. The old Country Coaches are too valuable to become mouse fodder

Good idea on the copper. ..did not think about rust but should not be issue here...never rains.
This coach is built like a tank and close inspection with bore camera we just could not see any obvious places other than the column ant it had no tracks.
The utility entry is another sloppy spot that we need to fix.
The LTD is model up from ours but same general bones.
Ours has many upgrade options but none of the voice stuff.
BTW did yours have a large loop of wires in back drivers corner inside engine bay?
Have no clue as they are not connected but must have been something

Our LTD had the wire loop in the back. I always assumed it was a generic wiring harness that fit our 38' coach and would also stretch out to fit the 40' version. I believe they mostly went to rear lights.

one thing an ol timer showed me was to mix oatmeal with plaster of paris. The mice love the oatmeal and the plaster does them in and if a critter eats the decised mouse the plaster may only chip a tooth
