New Shocks ?

Suggestions, I have a 2004 CC Allure need to replace shocks, what recommendations do you have. I don't think I want Road Kings.

Koni EVO 99 for the fronts.

Koni FSD Golds for rear (and tag if applicable).

X's 2! I'd also be fine with the Koni Adjustable SP3 on the Rear & Tag position, I'd probably start at level 3.

So many times Owner's have talked about driving for many thousands of miles, months in some cases, with broken rear shocks (Drive's usually.), and reported no noticeable difference in coach handling.

Very common in our era coaches, and solved by adding a limit strap. (I do have Road King's, and no limit strap, and feel that on a few rather challenging leveling positions - the Road King's more robust shaft has made a difference in no breakage...).

I do agree, the Gold FSD's, if available, is what I'd go with on the Rear/Tag, if not using the EVO 99's. But if FSD's were not available, suspect the Adjustable SP3's would serve well...

Best of luck to you,
Smitty

Koni is the way to go. I tried to get information from Road King and could not get a anybody to pick up much less return a call. I had mine recently done and had the straps put in. It seems that the travel length on the suspension is slightly greater than the travel on the shocks But not greater than the air bag travel. I put the straps on just to be sure. I will say when the rear shocks go bad it is hard to tell. I will take a toll on your tow bar though.

I'm sure I read something here a few months back about Road King going belly-up.

road king shocks were marketed by a group that were getting the shocks from king shocks who is very much still in business. Loni did a great job marketing but something went haywire. Some manufactures that bought thru loni are just buying direct from king shocks.
Koni makes a good shock that is cheaper and well received by the industries but they dont have the build quality of king shocks.

Is the limit strap something that is sold that fits all coaches, no matter what manufacturer? or are they special made to fit your coach? Thanks

Every shock has it's extended/compressed length limit. Every axle design has its mechanical limits as well. Thus, the combination of the shock you pick with the suspension must match. In cases where the extension of the axle is greater than the shock then a limiter is needed. In my case, my rear axle can travel 2" farther than the shock length so I have limiters to prevent damaging the shock. In the case of my CC the axle manufacturer (Ridewell) did not supply a shock with the rear axle so it was up to CC to supply it. CC and Koni told me that CC kept changing their specifications and a proper shock was not designed/made. So, shocks were broken and limiters installed to prevent the over-extension damage that happened to my coach when new. Here's an example. https://www.ultrarvproducts.com/Coun...ch-Limit-Strap

I believe kevin was selling them for a while then he was forced to stop by country coach. With them gone i would think kevin will be able to provide them again.
