New Untitled Coaches

Next week my wife and I are going to stop and look at some "new" untitled 2008 CCs on our way south. Have any of you purchased these coaches since CC went under and now have no warranty? As I understand, I would have to purchase a stand alone warranty. How expensive are these and what do they cover? I know the appliances and such would be covered easily, but what about the chassis? Does anyone work on the monococque? Or just the builder? Just trying to get my ducks lined up so I don't seem to be complete moron going in. Thanks. We'll be looking at an Intrigue that we sure like.

We purchase a CC 2008 Allure Sunset Bay Aug 2009 along with a one year United States Warranty-Eagle Guardian with a $200 deduct for $3000. Our dealer, Guaranty RV in Junction City, Or has been very fair with us to fix some of the needed repairs at no cost to us. I recommend that you make an agreement with the dealer to bring the coach up to useable standards at their cost or their reimbursement from the manufacture of the replaced part. Make sure you drive, use every item in the coach before signing on the dotted line. Our air conditioner didn't cool in bedroom, but wasn't discovered until we did lots of testing ourselves. Also the hydro hot heating was plumbed wrong and would never had been found without our personal tests/works when both zones are on but not just one zone. Just make sure you really test everything!!!!!!!! This past week, our rear shocks BROKE when leaving a RV park. It sounded like an explosion and then the second one broke. Our coach was hanging to the passenger side, undriveable. After a phone call to a tech from Guaranty and the park owner we got the coach level enough to drive . Long story but found that the Extended warranty we purchased would not cover the shocks. We plan to pursue this after we get back to our home, but it isn't a Guaranty problem it is ours. We did replace all the original shocks with Road Kings.

Thanks for the replies. We stopped at Buddy Gregg's to look at a specific coach they had on the internet. An Intrigue Splendor like one we looked at in Irvine, CA. But the Good Lord may have been watching out again for us as they had sold the rig the week before. We'll be happy with what we have, for now.

Try the good sam esp. They will give you a quote online. Just give them the make, model, year and mileage on the coach.

2008 CC were most likely manufactured in 2007 when Country Coach was still doing fairly well. Like all coaches there are probably bugs to be worked out and and esp with a reputable provider would be a good investment. There are a number of former Country Coach techs who are knowlegeable about the product and have opened their own repair businesses. Guaranty RV also has a pretty good repair facility. Bob Lee (founder of Country Coach) opened Oregon Motorcoach Center in Junction City last year and, in my opinion, it is an excellent service facility.

Note that Good Sam ESP is not a "warranty," i.e., they do not cover manufacturing defects on the coach itself. They will cover individual systems when they break such as refrigerator, transmission, etc. so long as you can prove that you have maintained them exactly per the manufacturers' recommendations. That doesn't make ESP worthless, but it just emphasizes what littlebaler says - you are on your own for the coach itself so test everything before you pay for it.

We have an orphan Monaco and have paid roughly $4k out of pocket for construction defects (sloppy installation of 12v electrical wiring) which would certainly be covered by a manufacturer that was still in business. Good Sam ESP has refused coverage as not being a defect in a "system" that is covered by their plan. We still love our coach; just wish we could have spent that money on toys rather than on repairs!

Just a friendly reminder to inspect the coach very carefully before you buy, have a frank discussion with your dealer and get any promises they make in writing, and then still be prepared to pay your repair costs out of pocket.
