Not So Cold Fridge replacement time

We have found out that "Banging" on our Norcold cooling system to loosen the blockage only helps for a few days. Time to replace the Norcold. Have questions for those who replaced their Norcolds with a residential fridge. The DW ask if the Samsung residential fridges are rated for RV use? I told her that I have not seen any info put out by Samsung stating that they were. Of course her next question was "Why would we want to do that then?" I could use a little help here.
Also, How long have you had the residential fridge and have you had any problems with it? Did you do the installation yourself or did you have it done by a shop? If by a shop, which shop? Sorry for so many questions, but we are trying to make an intelligent decision.

Thank You

Just tell your DW, she will love it. Your beer will be ice cold and her ice cream will be rock hard and 2 times the room. Mine has been running 100% of the time going on 3 years O problems. We even had a 22lb turkey in the freezer last year waiting on Thanksgiving.

Entegra installs Samsung in all of their new motor homes since 2014. I would say they are RV approved. Very pleased with our Samsung......anything beats the Nocold.

Helped a friend replace his with a Samsung unit, then they traded the rig for year older higher end MH. He did like it while had had it though.
We have a Jenn Aire in our rig. CC went out of business so no warranty anyway.
Do like the bigger unit and better temp control as well as the through the door ice/water dispenser.
Do it, you won't regret it!

Post your coach model/year and it is likely someone has made the conversion to a residential refrigerator in the same coach. You'll get lots of information..

I just replaced my Dometic with the Samsung RF18 refrigerator. Had to remove two drawers below the Dometic to make vertical room. The Dometic was wider than the Samsung and a piece of trim was installed to fill the space beside the refrigerator.

The Samsung runs just fine on my MSW inverter. Just plugged it into the ice maker receptacle which is powered through the inverter so no re-wiring was necessary.

A Samsung will fit right in your Allure. Might take some wood work but not enough to worry about.

Mine was installed about 3 years ago by Amazing Creations

We have had a lot of work done by them and they are great to work with

I just changed mine out last month and so far love the new one. We put in a Fridgadair Dutch door that we picked up from Sears outlet with a huge discount as it had a scratch and ding on the side. Decided to go with a pure sine wave inverter with the saving on the fridg. The counter top depth would squeeze thru front door after removing everything on frame and screen door. Just removed the gas shock to let the exterior door swing out. Removed the drawers under old unit and built a platform to hold new unit. It was a fair size project and worked on it couple hours a day for about a week. Love the new unit!!!

Our Samsung residential fridge RF-197 (now replaced with the RF-18) has been in service for the past 4 years. It was installed by Billy Thibodeaux's RV Shop in Scott LA.

We full-time and my only regret was not doing it when the RF-197 first came out many years prior.

Trust me I will NEVER have another RV absorption fridge in any RV EVER again.

Just do it and your wife will one Happy Camper.
