OEM battery Charger

I will be storing my 2001 Allure for several months as I prepare for a lengthy time off. I purchased an Iota charger for my boat a few years ago and am quite impressed with the new technology. I just replaced all three 8d batteries (lead acid) in my Allure and hope to keep them pristine. My question is, is the old chargers in these machines up to the task or should I buy a stand alone 3 bank Iota or similar, unhook the batteries, and charge it that way. The coach will be stored in a modern 50' building. Thanks in advance.

If you have a name brand inverter / charger ( Xantrex, Magnum ), they have very good 3 stage smart chargers and will treat your batteries well.

If you lived in the RV for a lengthy time, would you use a different charger then to one it came with ?

I have used my on-board charger since I bought the coach in '02. Always keep it plugged into 120v / 20 amp circuit and have never had an issue. Batteries always are at full charge (13.9vdc) pus I leave my refrigerator on as well. That way there is always a cold one for me when I stop by to check things out or do some work on her.

Apparently your "old" charger has been working fine for all these years so why would you think it won't work now?

Your inverter/charger charges the house batteries and the Echo charger then uses house power to keep your chassis battery charged, works fine.

Only thing to do is keep an eye on the electrolyte level in the batteries.

I'll be 3000 miles away and will have a friend watching the electrolyte levels. (That is my only worry). Will be gone 5 months. Guess i'm going to keep the current setup for now as I'm short on time. The setup does work well but it would be nice to pull the battery cables off and have them on a smart charger standing alone. Thanks to all who took the time to comment........
