Oil pressure

I Took my coach out and noticed the oil pressure which typically had ran a little over 50 pounds was running a little below 50 and dropped to about 25 when idling. Checked the oil and found it had been overfilled when serviced. It's a Cat C9. A couple of questions:

1) where should the pressure run on this engine?
2) what kind of issues could too much or oil cause?

It's been driven a little over thousand miles since the change, but these to be related? Thx

If it was seriously overfilled, too much oil can cause the internal components ( crank shaft ) to churn the oil up, adding air to it. That can cause lower oil pressure.

A quart or two wouldn't be a problem. If it's more then that, drain or suck some out to get it to the full line.

Then you can test drive it and see if that was the problem.

To start with if you are going by the dash gauges they may be off. Mine was reading about a 10lb difference from my Silverleaf. Before having a new oil pump installed my cold startup ran about 127lbs about 40lbs to high. Now I have a startup cold 87lb and going down the road around 50lbs and idles at 25lbs. If you are over full drain out about 1/2 gallon then recheck cold. I would put it between add and full.
To full you may see a lot of oil around the slobber vent tube by the starter plus it will wipe air into the oil if it is to full, not good.
You don't say what year couch you have, sometimes that will help.

Oil Pressure

Thanks for all your comments. I've also read around the net that there could be a need to "re-calibrate" the dipstick.

That is a big problem with the C-7
I replace with 34qts then go from there after it's cold, plus I never go the the full mark about 3/4 full.
