Part Number for Gas Strut on Engine Hatch
Does anyone have model number for a single SPD Gas Strut that will hold the engine access hatch open on a 1995 Magna or similar.
I destroyed mine inadvertently, ordered a 5300-30, and it does not hold the hatch open. Perhaps the strut is defective, but would like to have a number that should work.
Of course, I threw away the old one when I received the new one.

Over a hundred dollars from manufacture???? Measured length and pounds needed. Ordered off internet for $18. Installed and works like original. my two cents

Here's the one I replaced the strut on our engine compartment hatch with: GSNI-2300-120
They're typically under $20 on eBay and Amazon. The specs say it's 20" long and 120 pounds of compression resistance.
FWIW

Yes Amazon the ones on my coach were 90 pounds (90% of mine were not working), I went with 100 pounds they are working great at $19 a pair!! I assume 120 pounds would just require a bit more force to close them

Can't really help with the part number as mine has 2 struts... I just replaced mine this week... had two delivered for $40.
I will say that I got nervous because I mounted one and it didn't do anything... it barely slowed the hatch from moving. Attached the second one and the hatch works perfectly.
Almost like 1 plus 1 equals 3 when it comes to these.

RV Upgrades has a good selection and pretty good prices.

I ordered about 2 dozen; some for my coach and some for a friend's.

Thanks to all for the replies.
I will go with the Amazon 120 lb strut since it works on a similar engine hatch style coach.
Thanks to CoCoDave for the part number.
Amazon is competitive with Prime shipping and quicker too.

Measure the length of the tube x2 is the length you'll need if it's a 20" tube go with 120 lbs. If it's shorter go with the highest weight for that length. I picked up a 20" 120 lb at Camping World a couple of days ago for $18 and change.

The 120 lb gas lift is mounted and working fine.
I probably could have used 100 lb item just as easily.
Thanks to all that responded. I appreciate the guidance from the forum.
