Power Steps.

Ok so here's my problem. The power steps on my coach. work great when
they open. But when they close they seen to not stop wanting to close. It get to the stopping point the in bangs for about 10 seconds until it stops. I read that it might be dirt causing this. So i cleaned all of the rails track, as well as the gears. Then i re lubed them with a silicone spray. The operation of the steps seam to be better but it still does the same thing when i close the door.
When i clean out the main gear arm i notice that there were a few teeth that were ground off slightly at the end of the gear. Could this cause this problem.

I will post up a video tomorrow.

Thanks.

Um... do you have a step drive problem, or a Control Unit problem?

I think I'd talk to the manufacturer ASAP, not operate the steps in the interim.

Well 2 ways of looking at it. 1. You are alone with this problem so once fixed it should not reoccur. 2. Your service to other members peace of mind is great.
But I know the feeling of being lost with a problem and posting on boards to get an answer.
Have you tried powergearus.com?
Here is a link to the diagnostic video page which takes you through the testing procedure.

Here's my guess. When the steps go in and entirely close, the system senses resistance on the motor and cuts the electricity. So I'm thinking with that broken gear (right at the point when the steps close) the pinion gear is slipping, yet grabbing a little. This is exhibited by the steps jerking in the video. Eventually it grabs enough to create enough resistance to cut the power. My suggestion would be to replace that gear. Also check the pinion gear for any wear and replace both if necessary.
