Power Takeoff lubrication?

While camping in Lake Havasu, spoke with a fellow RV'er that had a 2006 CC 360 Inspire like mine. He told me that his mechanic advised him to check the PTO unit that drives the hydraulic system for wear on the shaft as the unit does not have a lube system. The opened it up and the teeth on the end of the shaft were rounded and ready to fail. The mechanic then replaced the shaft and installed a lubrication unit that lubes the PTO unit for around $2,000. He has 50,000 miles on his unit. Has anyone heard of this problem? If so, have they had this modification done?

This is called The Wet Kit mod for PTO's. Good idea to have it converted from dry.

The CC Yahoo User Group has PTO101, with good pictures. Think it is in the files section.

Another area for concern on many coaches, is alum radiators.

Best of luck, and enjoy your rig,

I just got home tonight from Country Coach in Junction City and had the wet PTO installed cost Labor $420.00 parts $425.00 Had some other thing done total $1690 had to get in on the 10% discount on parts and labor saved $300
One good thing the Aluminum Radiator was recently replaced with a STEEL & COPPER Bolt Together Radiator w/ updated rubber mountings by the other owner saved me $5400

Go here CHELSEA PTO for some pix of the PTO and how to determine if you have one that is about to come apart. JD is an X Country Coach tech who started his own business and he also has a good stock of parts.
