Question Power Tech Gen - 6.6 won't start

I have a 94 Magna with a front slide Power Tech 6.6 generator in it and I recently started having issues with the glow plugs not activating and when checking and switching around the relays (4ea) in the gen compartment, I could get it to activate the relays and momentarily start then stop. I manually held the fuel shut off switch open and it started and ran fine as long as I held the switch open. after stopping it in this manner I tried starting it again and only the glow plug system will now activate and it won't attempt to start at all. I have tried swapping the relays around again and no luck. I do not have anything other than a generic schematic on it and would welcome any suggestions or if anyone can direct me to a good generator repair service near the Houston TX area. Also if there are any schematics available I would be more than happy to purchase. Thanks in advance.

I think all power tech generators with a Kubota engine work on a similar basis.

There is a trouble shooting flow chart for the engine and the generation unit in the Manual.

This one might work. It has for me on my PT7000.

Power Tech 6.6 won't start

Deandec, thanks so much as always for your response and I copied the electrical schematic from the manual. Today I hope to give it a shot to see if I can figure out anything. I am also hoping that somewhere out there is someone who is totally up to speed on the power tech gen's and don't mind sharing their knowledge. Thanks, Al

Have you spent any time over at smokstak.com?

There are some very knowledgeable old timers over there.
