Rear end Gearing

A friend of mine has a 2000 Country Coach 36’ DTSG Allure with a Cummins 330. He's trying to determine his rear end gearing ratio anyone have any info? Currently he tachs about 1800 rpm when he's doing 60-61 mph. Assume he's running a Dana rear end.

Thanks

I have a 98 Allure 36' with a 325 Cummins. The rear axle is a Rockwell with a ratio of 4.88 I cruise 62-63mph at 1650-1700 rpm indicated on my original dash tach, most likely not the most accurate. Tire diameter will play into it as well. Hope this helps, others will, no doubt, chime in as well.
Regards,
G

My 2002 ISC tachs about 1750 at 63-64. The 4.88 sounds right. I agree with Chief about the tire diameter playing a part in the equation plus there could be as much as 10% difference because of instrument error.

I seem to recall that I have a Dana but not sure

Not sure of his tire size but know he's running whatever the coach came with when it was built.

If your friend has the manuals that came with the coach, the Dyno Max chassis manual has an appendix section that will list the mfgr and ratio for the rear axle. For mine, it's section 7, pg. 11.....but could be different for his as it's newer.

I never got a chassis manual, just the CD and there's not much specific info in it about the chassis itself.
