Replacing 2-pin bulbs in recessed fixtures under the cabinets

What is the secret for inserting the new bulb? There are 2 slots for the pins but not any easy way to insert into the slots and have the bulb stay there. I have broken bulbs and pins while attempting to insert the new bulb. Ant there aren't cheap. Is there a special tool?

Thanks.

The special tool is patience (and a kleenex or glove on your fingers to keep the finger oils off the bulb). Very little working room in those fixtures. I make sure the pins are aligned in the right manner and have plenty of light to work with to see exactly what I am doing.

These bulbs are very cheap if you order on-line from the myriad of bulbs web sites and very expensive if you buy them even at Wal-Mart or Home Depot type places and unGodly expensive from camper dealers.

Straight out and straight in with a latex glove. Sometimes the pins may be slightly bent complicating the installation

Not that I know about and you have to be a contortionist getting under the cabinets.
I place the bulb in a piece of plastic tubing and line up pins to holes and give a slight push to insert than remove tube and with paper towel push the rest of the way.
The tube needs to fit loose on bulb and you can squeeze the tube to hold bulb.
You do not want to get finger oil on bulb they say it shortens the life of bulb.
Welcome to irv2.

In a awkward place, I remove the three screws and drop the lite down and replace the bulb

We've been getting them from WalMart . . . can you advise any websites that you've used? They're ridiculously expensive for such a tiny bulb!!

We had an '06 Allure and overthe years replaced many of these...just straight in-out while wearing thin gloves...I liked to use the nitrile type.

I bought a two dollar pair of needlenose pliers and cut some short pieces of tubing to place over the ends of the pliers. This provides a safe way to grab the bulbs and keeps your fingers off the glass.
