Ride height adjustment

Can anyone tell me exactly how to adjust the front ride height? I see some hose clamps on the rod. Which way is up?

I would leave this to the professionals. It cannot be that costly to have a mechanic do it and would be a lot safer.

Do you have the spec's on the height or are you just guessing it needs changing?

I have a 99 Intrigue and I just replaced the rear bags. The hardest part is raising the tires to get under the body.to get a measurement the weight must be on the tires.I set mine on 6" of blocks and it is still tight for a fat boy.You will need safety stands in BEFORE you touch the rods.
Mine are set (9.5" rear and 5.5" on the front. From the bottom of the frame to the center of the axle.
The rod could be up or down depending on which side of the valve is on.On mine move the rod up to raise.
This is my opinion only. Doyle and Peggy 99 Intrigue,2013 Silverado 4x4

Before you adjust the front ride height, you should make sure the rear ride valves are set correctly. The 3 valves interact and an adjustment on one will affect the others

Which way is simple...Just look at it and imagine how it works.

There is a link attached to the axle and valve is on the frame.

Look at how the valve pivots and if the coach is too low then the rod length between frame and valve lever needs to be longer.

If it is a round shaft clamped in place mark it with a sharpie then measure the frame distance and make note.

Depending on geometry the adjustment will not match movement but move it a fixed mount then remeasure frame to determine ratio of movement and maybe start engine to charge air.

Jack stands or blocks needed.

Before you mess with ride height, consult the manual. It will tell you something like +/- 3/4" between outside and inside suspension components. Then measure your ride height and write it down. On my 2000 Magna that is the case anyway. I always run my coach up on run up blocks. Then I block the body before crawling under. Then the adjustment is simple. Loosen the two hose clamps and move the rubber boot up or down to achieve the factory recommended measurement. Tighten the hose clamps again.

Never go underneath a vehicle with air suspension until the body is blocked up. A sudden loss of air will bring the entire weight of the vehicle down onto you and somebody will find you with all the life squished out of you.

I prefer to measure the ride height by measuring the shock bolts. Center to center of the front bolts on my 02 intrigue is 17 3/4".

Ridewell, the manufacturer of the suspension on my Magna says the ride height should be adjusted by measuring the airbag plate to plate. 8.5 inches. What do you all think of that?

A little update: since the new front airbags have been installed, I have not been getting full ride height. I am at a Freightliner shop in Montana, and they have determined that the ride height valve is not operating properly. Given that it's 15 years old, they say it's way past it's life time. It is a metal Neway valve. They say it is no longer manufactured and is superseded by a plastic haldex valve. No more metal valves available without doing adaptations.
