When you have your fan controller installed, could you ask if they make a solenoid controlled restrictor valve? The solenoid could be activated when the a/c is switched on.
The Sauer/Danfoss fan controller turns the fan on medium when the a/c is turned on to keep the high side pressure down, remove heat and turn the gas to liquid.
With the Source fan, do people just wait until the motor comes up to temperature before switching on the a/c?

I had mine installed back in March, and they did not have that option then. With the restrictor in place it's supposed to turn the fan enough to keep high side pressures down.

But I thought the fan speed was too high with it in place, so I removed it. Once you do so you have no fan speed whatsoever until temp starts getting close to 180.

I tried the A/C without the restrictor in place, and just waited until it got to operating temp, but the air did not come out as cold as usual. So I had to put it back in for the hot summer months. It very easy to take in and out.

We've bad had the SE Wax Valve, installed by SE, for about 7-8K miles now. Very pleased with the results, zero change in the reported temperature ranges I'm used to seeing. But, with the variable fan, vs Low/Medium/High of the OEM system - I'm diverting more HP to the wheels, then to the fan.

I have not changed my driving habits, as far as AC usage.

Sure not knocking the reasoning and sophistication of the OEM controller. I will however, knock the stability and quality of the unit. Not just on CC, as other coach manufactures use the same controller.

After reading of some owners of CC, and other coaches, being on number 3 or 4 controller. I elected to go with the SE Wax Valve. It is KISS.

And by the way, I've traveled in temperatures in the low 100's, including smaller mountain ranges driving, and our operating temperatures have remained between 185-195. (Final Change coolant, which after flushing and adding now three years ago, dropped temps from reported 195-205 ranges. Could have been some improvement just from flushing. But other Final Charge users have reported likewise drops in operating temperatures.) I only mention the Final Charge, and temps, in this thread - as the Source Engineering Wax Valve has handled our cooling needs well. Did not increase operating temperatures in anyways.

And the SE gang did a good job on my install. Clean, and they were very nice in taking the time to explain what, why and how they were doing things...

Just had the SE wax valve installed today. It takes a couple of hours for install so no big deal. There is no solenoid for the air conditioner which I ask about. Apparently it isn't needed so I'm not going to worry about it. I didn't get a chance to do a real hill climbing test as I only drove from Albany to Salem. There is one small hill and the coach topped out at 187 degrees. It mostly ran 184-185. Here are a couple of pix of the install plus some dash porn.

Looks just like my setup with the restrictor in place. It's that small piece in the middle of the outside line hookup. Your running temps are identical to mine with the restrictor out. With it in the fan speed is too high and the temps are then running lower at about 175-178.

Talked with Jeff there today, and he said that for some reasons with CC they get different results. To fix the higher fan speed at startup he recommended to go purchase a larger diameter restrictor.

Brett - Sorry for the delayed response. And glad that Don posted his install pictures and you spotted the restrictor. Mine looks like Don's pictures, and I have just been running with S.E.'s setup as is. And as mentioned, zero problems...

Will follow this thread, to see what I can learn from your research!
