Sealant around items on roof has some cracking
I plan on going through all the calking around items on roof. There are some large and small cracking on what looks like the original calking. I have no water leaks at this point but want be keep ahead of it. Anyone know what product would be compatible with the calking that CC used. It appears to be the self leveling type of stuff.
I planned on using mineral spirits to clean the cracks and older calking, then use dicor self leavening calk to fill cracks and recoat the old calk which is about 2" wide.
Any opinions to create a nice clean look and bond?

X2 just clean the area and apply over cracks. You also want to check that the original caulk is still stuck down good on the edges.

Suggest you do a forum seach on Eternabond tape. It works extremely well on the roof areas you are describing. Great stuff! Just MO....

Eternabond tape looks good, but having to remove all the old calk would be a lot of work. I think simply filling in cracks is easier and should last quite a while. If this were a new install eternabond would probably be the cleanest solution.

To each his own. However, Eternabond comes in various widths. If the caulked area and the surface adjacent to the caulk is cleaned thoroughly and the tape is applied properly, the old caulk does not need to be removed. The correct-width tape can be applied right over it, and the joint is securely sealed. This technique has worked well for me for a number of seasons with no problems at all. But again....to each his own.

5 years ago, I did my 03 Alpenlite 5er with 4" Eternabond tape and just look at each year. Got my 06 Country Coach and the first thing I did was to do the roof with Eternabond tape, I use there spray cleaner, it work well then roll it with a 2" roller will never crack or leak.
2 stroker
