I live in Texas, which has a special requirement based on weight, not length. If I remember correctly, I think 26,000 lbs is the cutoff. If your RV weighs more than that, you have to go to the DMV and get what they call a non-commercial Class B license. I got mine last fall, and it involved going to the DMV and taking a written test, then scheduling a driving test where I drove my RV around with an evaluator for about 30 minutes. I also had to back in a straight line and back from the middle of the street to the curb. Overall, it wasn't that difficult, but it's always a bit of a hassle dealing with the DMV.

I can't speak for other states, but that's what Texas requires.

There is but one state who's licensing requirement you need to worry about... That is the state named upon the license.

All other states will respect your "HOME" State.

He's in Wisconsin which requires NO special license for MH's (any weight). They do have a strange requirement for a CDL if the vehicle is over 45'.... But then no MH is allowed over 45'...

Bottom line is that the only license requirement you have to meet is the requirements in the state your are licensed. Doesn't matter what any other states require of their drivers.

Home state license is what matters. As a side note, remember this does not apply to you rig. Ror example if your home state does not require toad braking systems but a state you are going to travel through does. You must have it for that state.
