stepwell cover sticking

I have a 2004 Allure, the stepwell cover will extend but will not retract, has anyone else had this problem and how was it fixed. How do you get to the mechanism that runs the stepwell cover.

Larry, I have a 2007 Allure 430. Do you have the step well that extracts at two levels? last year my two level step well would not extend completely out. I closed the door, it retracted and I opened the door and, by hand, assisted in extending the step well. I got a can of silicone spray and sprayed the outer mechanisms extensively. I have not had any more problems. I don't know if you have the same step well, but I hope this will help. Good luck!

I have to spray my interior tracks about 2x per year with silicone spray or the step slide will not retract.

Larry, if you are talking about the inner step well cover, when I was in D.C. last week, it happened to me. Cherry Hill had a mobile RV repair company. They came to my camp site. The tech extended the step well cover with the door open and he was standing outside. There is a, I'm guessing, a 3/4" nut that has to be removed. He removed the step cover and applied, I think he said "Dry Oil, or dry spray." He sprayed the arm several times while extending and retracting the arm. After it began working with ease, he lightly cleaned off the excess spray, replaced the step well cover and everything works fine. Had I known, I would have done it myself. You may need a second hand to help you. Man, I am learning. I hope this helps you.

This is a follow up on the entry step cover not retracting. I had it repaired it turns out that when the entry cover was designed it had stops in the electrical circuits which tended to malfunction, thus in later models the stops were deleted. To fix mine the wiring was changed to bypass the stops, it works fine now.

We had the same issue the first time we used the step cover.

A call to Country Coach got us advice to use a dry silicone lube once every three months to prevent "sticking"

Step Cover

Just had our '04 Inspire cover fixed. It would retract OK but extending it was a joke. Had to toggle the switch mulitiple times to get it to extend halfway.

Replacement of the rocker switch made by Sigma fixed the problem.
