You will find people that will tell you that the TRC is adequate protection but my personal opinion is that it is NOT.

I believe that the time it takes to sever power when there is a problem with the TRC is far greater than with the PI EMS HW50-C unit.

Also, if something were to go wrong inside the TRC unit you have to ship the entire unit back to them whereas generally all that is needed with the HW-50C unit is to remove an internal board.

Now here's the best part, the HW-50C has a lifetime warranty regardless of the owner. Let's see TRC match that one!

If it were me I would purchased the HW-50C unit and remove the TRC unit to sell on eBay or in the iRV2.com classifieds.

I started out with a portable TRC 50 amp unit and within one year after recognizing how superior the HW-50C unit was I sold the TRC Portable on eBay and installed the HW-50C. I've been a very happy camper since then.

Now, I don't know anything about this unit or what kind of protection it provides but I am still curious whether it is adequate or whether I should install the Progressive Industries EMS unit I purchased. Also, if I do install the Progressive Industries unit, should it replace the TRC unit or be wired in addition in order to supplement it?
I have that exact same unit. Check out http://www.trci.net/media/36388/90590-h.pdf
for specs. Basically, as I understand, it does what the Progressive unit does but without a live voltage digital display. I wouldn't remove the 34560 just to install a Progressive. Having said that, if you need to replace the 34560 a Progressive replacement is probably the better way to go.

Think that I will keep it

I went to the TRC site and looked at the specs for their 34560 model and it seems comparable to the Progressive Industries 50A unit and offers similar protection. So, I think that I will just pack up the PI unit and return it to Amazon. No need spending money if I don't have to.

Wut? The PI unit has a lifetime warranty, even if it fries to the pedestal.
Just sayin.....

Dave,

Everyone is entitled to decide for themselves what they want to do once they have been given all of the necessary information to make that informed decision.

I gave up long ago trying to make my horse drink once I walked him all the way down to the stream. Most of the time we would just have a staring contest and I would always win.

On to the next task at hand.
