If you have an older Country Coach (or any other older air suspension equipped RV), have your air suspension bags checked for serviceability. I found this on the backside (not easily seen) of both front air bags on my 1997 CC Intrigue. Needless to say, all four were replaced today and all four showed significant signs of dry rot!

You are lucky, very lucky..........you were close to a blow-out!
I check mine every year, before my state inspection, the inspector also looks at them closely. Glad to hear/see you are riding on new bags now! Travel safe!

Yes sir, I totally agree about being lucky! I bought this RV just a year ago and when I purchased it all 6 tires were new, all 3 batteries were new and the coach had just gone through a complete fluids and filters change. I wrongfully assumed anything that needed attention had been attended to by the previous owner. As my annual maintenance came due this year, I did most of it myself and was shocked to find this while greasing the front suspension.

Thanks for sharing, and the caution. I usually do a two times a year coverall, strong flashlight, under the coach slither

! Checking for anything that just does not look right. Especially looking for hoses and harnesses that may have signs of vibration related wear. The air bags are looked at from every angle I can get to them.

But, I admit that it's been about 8 months since my last inspection slither... So, next semi clean and dry stop, underneath I will go!!

We had our previous rig 13 years and I never even looked at the bags!

I had the front bags fully extended when I greased the zerks on the front suspension and that is how I found the issue. This is not a position that the bags are normally in. In the travel position, the bags are not nearly that full. If you are planning to inspect the bags, I would suggest you fully extend them.

Yes sir I do. I made a call directly to Gillig and using the last 5 of the VIN they pulled up the part number immediately and had them all in stock. After the fact, I discovered I could have saved probably 25% by ordering elsewhere.

Front: Reyco Part # 23377-01
Rear: Firestone Part # W01-358-9223

Hi. I have a 2000 Country Coach Allure that is currently for sale. I have everything working and maintenance done however I am wondering about the air bags? Can you tell me where you get those checked? I live in the twin cities area of MN.
