Transmission Retarder

Does anyone know if Country Coach used a transmission retarder on the 3000MH Allison in 2000. I recently purchased a 2000 allure that has a retard switch near the shift panel. Would this be a transmission retard system, exhaust brake, or Jake brake?

Foretravel is the only coach builder that I'm aware of who used the Allison retarder. It typically had a joystick devise that controlled the retard level. If there is just the one on/off switch it's probably an exhaust brake. If a true Jake there will be some provision for high/low.

The 2000 came with an exhaust brake. It is either on or off, no other choices.

Thanks guys! The exhaust brake would be my second choice and Jake being first. But I really didn't want the transmission retard. I guess I'm in the middle.

Ken,

Welcome to CC. they are great coaches. It should say in your brochure if it is exhaust brake or engine brake. I have an engine brake on mine. With three levels.

If you do not have an original brochure Google Damon rapozo and he has a list of them on line. I looked and he has your coach brochure there.
