I had to reinstall four times.
First company installed both windshields because they were both cracked, they used the soap and plastic tool, slapping technique. They reused the old rubber gasket.
After the install I noticed some leaking and gaps between the windshield and the gasket so I wanted to get new rubber and get the windshield reinstalled.
I called the second windshield company, they tried twice to get it to seal, but both times you could still see daylight between the windshield and the gasket. They insisted they were Rv's install pros, but they could not get the fit correct, bad fit letting wind and rain into the coach. Their technique was to soap up the new gasket, use plastic tools, and slap the windshield into position. as you drive around the windshield will move out of position. Listening to a whistling windshield traveling down the road became very irritating. They charged $250 per windshield. $500 total.
I called the third glass company, they also insisted they primarily do Rv installs. This time once they got the windshield into position with the plastic tools and slapping. they ran tape along the windshield butting right up to the gasket, and on the coach right up against the gasket. Then they slid the tip of the black silicone pumper behind the rubber gasket and filled the gaps and pressed the silicone all around the entire windshield, then repeated that all around the coach side. To be clear they were not adding silicone on the outside of the rubber gasket, the silicone was on the inside of the rubber gasket. As silicone squeezed out, where it would have seeped on the windshield, the tape was there to keep that edge clean. They sealed inside and out. Once they pressed all the silicone into the gasket, they pealed off the tape which made it all look perfect. They tested the seal with water to make sure it as all sealed up, LOOKED GREAT! These guys worked much harder and payed attention to detail. They charged $300 per windshield $600 total.
After the first rain, there was a pinhole leak small drips, I gave the guys a call and they ran over and shot a little silicone into the groove, leak stopped immediately, and after 3 years it is still perfect. Very happy that I had the third company give it a try and am very happy with how they installed the windshields.
