VMSpc Mount In Our Coach

Finally got around to completing the VMSpc dash mount. It has been mechanically complete since last fall. It was used for the ~3,400 mile winter round trip to Arizona and rode perfectly. It was my intention to powder coat the bracket but did not have time to get that done before the AZ trip. So I took it to the coating place earlier in the week and they gave it back to me a day later with a nice non-reflecting black finish.

The images should be self explanatory. Sorry about the filmy nature of them. The coach was in the dark barn looking out at a very bright, sunny day. The camera in the smart phone is remarkably capable but even it had a hard time dealing with the crappy lighting.

Dave,

Great idea!

Hope you don't mind if I hijack your post but I thought I would add my way of solving the VMSps mounting. It's an Asus t-100 netbook, comes with a detachable keyboard and has excellent battery life. Haven't run it completely down but I would guesstimate between 8-10 hours on battery. I have it mounted on the dash with industrial Velcro so it's easy to remove as I also use it for my Wi-Fi computer while on the road.

Here's a picture of it mounted. Any gauges that are covered up show on the display so no down side to mounting it here.

I did the same as Barney except with a Nextbook 10. Blocks some of the gages but all of those are displayed on the computer. When I turn my computer on it comes up with VMSpc running.

Also, my computer does not provide power to the Silverleaf JIB and it gets its power from the engine data connection. I connected a hot wire to the JIB through a switch to power the JIB while I traveled. I did this so I wouldn't have to close VMSpc after shutting down the engine, which cut power to the JIB, when I stopped for fuel. The 12 volt source came from wire #47 connected to the radio memory power.

Nice ideas here guys! I've been trying to figure out how to mount mine. Love that VMSpc application.
