Water filter location 1998 Allure

New owner of a 36' 1998 Allure and can't find the water filter that the User's Guide refers to. Any suggestions on where to look?

Look in the bay forward of the sewer bay. See if you have a plate screwed to the rear bulkhead. If you do, it is located behind the plate

I have a 2007 37' Allure Sunset Bay and a door in the plumbing bay labelled to access water filter, but alas, no filter installed. I attribute it to the smaller (?) plumbing bay space and it was not installed at factory. Mine is discussed in my Allure operating manual, written for all Allures.

On my '98 Allure, it's in a box on the middle rear wall of the third bay back. Mine is only accessible if you crawl into the bay from the passenger side and unscrew 4 screws. It was such a pain for me for changing filters or winterizing, I removed the filter housing completely and connected the inlet and outlet feeds with a permanent coupling. I now use that same housing as an external filter on the supply hose. Much better for me - YMMV.

My 98 Allure is the same as Col Mac's....as a side note to demonstrate how hidden it was: I bought my CC in the fall of 2014, when I finally found my filter housing and unscrewed it to change it out, I didn't find a filter element....I found the original installation paperwork! VERY wet and kind of skunky....but readable. PO's had never found or changed it. Not a big deal for me to slide in there to service it but will most likely plumb straight through as Col Mac did. Good luck and Regards.
