Water tank sensors and other issues
I have a 1999 Affinity and I keep getting a vocal announcement that "fresh water tank approaching empty" or "black water tank approaching full" when the switches on the overhead console indicate otherwise and I know the switch indication is correct. I also get "exterior door is open" every time I start the coach and put it in drive.
Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?
Vern at Country Coach says there is a way to disable specific commands if it gets too annoying but it would be nice to have it work correctly. I do know the "fuel level is low" command is working right as that triggered on my last trip. It gave me 6 warnings before I could get to a truck stop and it took 160 gallons! Whew, lucky it didn't run out...

You'll have to see if Country Coach can tell you how the aural system gets its level readings as it is apparently a different source/circuit than the overhead switch gauges. I have the same issue getting a warning an "exterior door is open" on my CC Concept. I've replaced the switches on all of the exterior doors and the warnings persist. The switches were easy to replace, but I can only imagine there is at least one switch somewhere which I missed and didn't replace.
Your incredibly fortunate you didn't run out of fuel. I nearly did the same thing and my 150 gallon tank took 143 gallons to fill. I've since adopted the practice off refilling the tank when there's still about 50 gallons remaining. That usually gives me a comfortable reserve if I want to push further on for better fuel prices.

Get rid of the sensors on all your tanks, fresh, gray and black. Replace with SeeLevel system from Garnet industris. Reliable and accurate, everything the cheap OEM's are not.

I had the same warning on the black tank approaching full. I just disconnected that wire from the "speech box" in the overhead panel.
Our tank sensors all work accurately after 22 years of use.
When I repaired the fresh water auto fill circuit board, it tied directly to the water tank sensors board for its info. I believe the "speech box" gets its info there also.
So my guess is the "speech box" is the culprit of your problem, not the tank sensors?
I had to create a schematic for much of the overhead dash wires to fix the auto water fill board. My manual had no schematics for that area.
Hope you have good results in solving your problem.

I would love to have all owners of 22 years come forward and say they have the same success as you have. It is rare!

Well mine is only going to be 20 years old in four months. Everything in the coach works properly and accurately. I do need a bulb for my refrigerator though.

I don't know these old rigs had some pretty good systems when built.
I have seen newer rvs and travel trailers with some real junk which would explain why they don't last or are inaccurate and need to be replaced.

These tank sensor stories are interesting. I have the complete opposite problem. All my tank gauges and voices are working accurately with the exception of the black tank lights which show that it's full before it really is but the voice for the black tank is accurate! I would never disconnect my Magna's voices. They are one of my favorite things about the coach. I love how the woman talks to me about routine things and the man yells at me when it's serious! My uninitiated friends are astounded when they hear the coach talking. Also, the voices are idiot-proof unless you are deaf.

"I also get "exterior door is open" every time I start the coach and put it in drive. "
This happens on my rig if I forget to lock the cabinet doors outside. The sensor wire is connected to the pin switch for the basement lights on my rig.
If the pin switch does not compress, or the wire connection is bad I will get the exterior door announcement.
One clue is to look at your rig in the dark of the night. If you see the glow of a compartment light when you should not, then the "box people" think the door is open.
Check your engine hatch also as mine has a pin switch and a light. My generator slide also has a pin switch.

Ok, I never thought of this. On a few of my compartments, the light contact has either broken or been disconnected. The switch by the passenger seat only locks a few of them so I have gotten into the habit of just locking them with the key. I'll check the possibilities and see if that stops the announcement. Some passengers I have had are really unnerved when "exterior door is open" is announced!
