Interesting indeed. I just found some info at the link below as well.
Atwood Air Command A/C

Looks like you will have to buy a couple of wiring adapter plugs as well. The good news is they are cheap. I saw them on CW site.

OP here.

I purchased a Penguin Low Profile Heat Pump unit #951916 to replace the old Penguin.

It was purchased on Ebay and will cost about $250 more than the Atwood option.

Since our setup is a single zone ducted system, I will have to change the thermostat to the $30 331393.xx LCD thermostat but adapt the existing thermostat wire run.

The two model numbers above work together and were the only options in the Dometic lineup that would replace my current single zone, ducted, heat pump system simply..

I will post the result when I finish the installation in a couple of weeks.

All the best with your choice.
To lift the new up and bring the old down, I rented a 12 ft material lift for $50 taxes in. It fits in the back of a pickup and I handled it by myself. Sure made it a non event.

PS I have a 5 button Dometic thermostat left over if anybody could use it.

Yes, I just discovered the Material Lift at Home Depot.

Glad to hear your actual and successful experience. It is part of my plan for installation.

Too late for me on the thermostat as I have one arriving today.

How much for tstat?

Good for spare dean!

If price is right buy it and place it in cabinet behind existing one as spare so you will never need it.

We bought a pair of used 13.5 K penguin HP for $400.00 and a tstat for 50, 2 more on ebay (new ones) we left as separate controls as did not want to convert to central zone.

Kept the used one as spare.

Wow, two for $400! Sounds like a great deal.

I paid $899 for our new 15.0K, heat pump unit on Ebay.

PPL would have been over $300 higher for this model.

The thermostat was $30 new.

Yup...

Came from a guy who worked for rv place in dessert.

Customer upgraded from 13.5 to 15k units.

7 years old and 100 miles away but price was right.

We had one blow out and too cheap to buy new and in no hurry.

30 bucks for tstat seems good.

What type?

Our new ones were the 5 button ones.
