While a case can be made that RVs are harder to work on, it strikes me that since they are harder to work on any given job will take longer and the service center will log more hours. Seems like it works from both ends for the service center.

Gee, that sounds like getting double time on holidays. If I were CAT, I be fallen all over myself to welcome motor homes to my shop...

At Holt CAT in Dallas they get $125 on trucks & $132 on MH's. So 7 extra. They do however use book flat rate on some of it. Young guy screwed up my front wheel seal and had to get another and do it over. 3 hrs-I paid 1 or 1.5 can't remember.

Did they schedule you in and get the coach right out or did you have to just drop it not knowing how long it might be?

I was there at 7am when they pushed the gate open and out the same day. It's first come first served and don't take appointments.

Part of the problem I've had with Holt CAT in San Antonio is that the "no appointments" policy can create a problem if you show up early in the morning on a particular day only to find that there was work from the previous day still in the shop. You may be the next one in line but the line may not start to move until much later in the day.

That is entirely possible. I talked to Steve the service mgr in advance and he had me call late in the afternoon the day before just to see how it looked for an early show. Might be worth a call.
