windshield wiper arm movement

I just arrived home w/ an '03 Allure and have a few issues. First, wiper arm kept moving to the right until it hit the mirror post. I had to take it off and just use the one on the drivers side, which worked fine. Anyone have an info. would be appreciated. Thanks Russ

Isn't the wiper arm splined where it sits on the drive shaft? if so, you should be able to rotate it over a bit and re tighten.

There is probably a plastic cover over the spindle. Pop off the cover. I'll bet the nut there is loose.

Windshield Wiper Arm Movement

Thanks, for the responses. I had positioned the arm and tightened the nut, but to no avail. At the suggestions I looked at the spline and compared it to the other side and realized that 1/6th of it is missing. It appears to be pressed onto the shaft. I think I have a fix that will not require a complete new unit.

Epoxy...

Locktight...

You may be able to make a temp repair, or possibly locate a replacement shaft.

Many options depending on your creativity.

You could use strands of solder or tooth picks in the socket then press it in place, a do- for but may work.

Hi Russ You can go to a R.V. store and they will sell you the little piece that broke. They have more than one size. Take the old broken piece with you. Rember these are just wiper parts not CC parts. Mine did the same on my 2003 Intrigue. Hope this helps
