Unhappy Windshield wiper not working

A while ago my wipers quit working. Finally got around to working on them. Turns out the bushing going through the body is bound up just like I originally thought. Tried loosening the mechanism up but it's the bushing itself. Several months ago I tried spraying it with some rust buster but nothing changed. Will try some more in a few min.

When it warms up later I'll take some pictures and start searching the web to see if something comes up. Trying to figure out how to remove it now.

Mr. D,

Dealing with this exact issue now. Call Butch Helland at AM Equipment Manufacturing. 541-327-3362. butch@amequipment.com

All you need to have on brain is year and model of CC. Butch's savant- like knowledge of wiper parts is staggering. He worked with the factory and supplied "all" wiper assembly parts for CC.

While I chose to completely replace both arms; Butch proceeded to tell me what the weak components were (complete with memorized part numbers of great length)and why the arms had failed. He was correct on all accounts.

Cost is nominal and AM manufactures the assemblies now rather than outsourcing. Reported quality is "much better."

Shipped cost for the pantoghraphic assemblies(2) was $283.36. About two weeks to manufacture.

Butch repeatedly offered to sell me just the buggered up parts. Need reliable wipers. Got 'em all!

Well, you can't just order the pivot shaft I need. You have to order the whole frame, motor and pivot shafts as a whole unit. Need to verify part # and get it started. As posted above, two week timeframe.

Got the numbers, cost will be $500 and a week to fabricate. If they can still fabricate from new parts why can't they just send me the pivot unit I need?

I prefer Dry Wash N Guard. But still need working wipers to be legal.

Well, it ended up costing me $500 plus shipping foy the whole assembly including the motor as they won't sell the pieces to fix mine. I also went for two new commercial grade arms rather than the standard ones. So between $800 and $900 to fix one $50 part. I'll take the old assembly apart and keep the motor/gearbox and remaining pivot point and put in my spare parts bin just in case.

Glad it seems like you have a solution... albeit an expensive one.

Would love to see a photo of the parts you bought.

I still don't have a good handle on what was actually broken and as we know... if it breaks for one person there's a good chance it will for someone else.
