G!Day, I have a 1989 Country Coach 40ft Nantucket LTD and are looking for wiring diagrams for the 12 volt system and if possible for the 110volt system, As I have this motor home down here in Australia I have to change the way the rear stop lights and indicators are wired as we have to have separate amber indicators and I feel it would be much easyer if I have some wiring schematics.

Reece, Thank you for dropping by with your question. Since I feel comfortable with 12 volt wiring and if I did not have a schematic I could make a lot of progress with a 12 volt test lamp.

I would remove the tail light assemblies and probe the insulation and identify the wires. A separate parking, signal and stop lamp circuit should be present. Assuring an adequate ground should be straight forward.

Once you know what the wires do, hooking them up to separate bulbs should be easy and the new hook ups should be the bees knees!

I will identify the circuits at the rear, as there are two red wires going to each of the stop lights I will spit these pair of wires and see how that goes. Thanks

It is a little more difficult.

The Brake light shares duty with the turn signal, saves 2 wires and 2 bulbs.

This is done via the turn signal selector, the brake light comes from the brake pedal into the turn signal switch where it is either passed on to the bulb or stopped due to turn.

The emergency flashers also are involved, same bulbs and wires, different flasher.

You will need to run a new single wire to use as the brake lights, you disconnect the output from the brake switch and make the connection here so you have 12 VDC on brake (need to locate the brake switch)

At the other end you cut the existing wires near the lamps, check first as the brake side is the larger filament.

Now attach the new wire to the cut wire from the bulb, run a "T" wire to the other side.

Install your new amber stand alone turn signals, insure good ground.

Connect existing wire cut above to the bulb and you are good to go.

If you plan on towing you will need to make modifications to hitch wiring as well but you now have discrete power in the back of the coach so it is simple.

This is the info I was looking for to see where the stop lights and turn signals connected up, next problem is to find the stop light switch but I'm sure with a test light and someone working the brakes I should find it.

I thik your chassis is same as mine, Gillig.

This is a GREAT company!

Find their web page and use the parts contact email and ask them.

Provide your VIN and they can provide schematics for the factory chassis and eve sell you the factory manual if still in print.

Thankyou for the wiring diag but I think my 89 CC must be different as your diagram shows the brake lights as a separate circuit and not intergrated with the turn signals as mine is, I greatly appreciate your input and trouble to scan the picture in.

2 things, does your coach have side markers that flash on turn? If so then these can be used for sources of stand alone turn signals, but this is still more work than intercepting the brake switch.

Look under the hood ion front of the driver, there shoud be a panel with a group of air lines and pressuire switches.

These are for warning indicators for low air as well as the source for the brake light.

Have someone activate the brakes and use a voltmeter to determine which one is correct, there should be one each for front and rear.

Hi TQ 60,
Thanks for your input, I found the stop light switches on the weekend and have disconected the wires on circuit No 52 that go back to the indicator switch so all I have to do now is run a new wire from the stop light switch to the rear stop lights.
No my coach does not have flashing side marker lights.

Hello, I have a 38 ft SE nad I will be shipping it back to Oz at end of August. I HAVE every wiring diagram for the Country Coach wiring. I do not have the Gillig wiring, but will source that in the next few weeks. my email is thecape@bigpond.com regards Noel
