Wiring harness question

I have a 1995 CC Concept. The dash lights stopped working and after putting in a new head light switch the switch ceramic/dimmer immediately started to over heat so I unplugged the power lead to the dash lights and the switch cooled down. After checking every thing I could think of with the same result I noticed two wires on the wire harness for the headlight switch do not match the corresponding plug in the harness. So what I thought was a chassis power wire to the light switch actually connects to a panel light switch wire at the harness connection and the power wire in the harness connects to a terminal for the dash lights. So my question is should like wires connect in the harness EG: wire 62 connect to 62 in the harness? In my case I have wire 62 (power) in the harness connecting to wire 34 which then connects to the switch. When I disconnect 34 from the switch the switch does not over heat I have dash lights but I also don’t have headlights. I’ve had the bus for two years and never had to use the head lights/dash lights so I don’t know if it was like this when I got it or not. Thanks for any insights!

Check the wiring diagram that came with the coach if you have it.

I did but the schematic does not show the harness connection. It does not indicate 62 crosses to 34. I wish the schematic was specific to that plug/connection but that would be too easy right?

My Concept has an additional “Panel Light” switch on the left hand console and is powered by wire #62. This lights up all of the panel back lighting as well as the backlighting on the left hand console and overhead console. It would be worth checking this switch to make sure it hasn’t gone bad as the power for the panel lighting passes through.

Thanks, I will check that switch. I think I’ve run it down to two transistors 2N3055 that are between the head light switch and the dash lights. When they are plugged in and wire 34 which turnes into 62 is plugged in it heats up. If I bybass the transistors everything works but the dash lights stay on all the time so I think I found the problem.
