You can tell I'm new here with all of my newbie questions

How do I tell if the roof on my '02 41DSO Select is fiberglass or EDPM? I think it's fiberglass based on internet research, but thought I'd ask other TS owners to make sure.

Thanks
Jim

More than not, it should be fibreglass, it was an option then however.
If you get on the roof and you put a fingernail to it and is resiliant and not hard, like the sides...it is rubber. If like the sides, then fibreglass. If fibreglass, clean and be sure to wax it just as you would the sides (it will oxidize and could streak sides), if rubber use cleaning/treatment.

Gotcha - I will check that when I get home this weekend. I hadn't thought of the waxing part - yet another 360sqft to wax and polish :(

One of the best one step cleaner/wax that is readily availble is Meguiars. If the roof is in good shape, I use a Flex polisher, get one at Autogeek.com. If you need to compound/heavy polish to get off years of neglect, I use a Fein electronic obital. In most cases the Flex will do you proud especially doing the body. PorterCable has a nice machine you can also find this at the afformentioned site. They also have some great foam pads and products.

Our roof is fiberglass too. It is a rectangular piece that has seems along the radius edges and endcaps. The rubber or vinyl roofing will be a onepiece sheet rapping around the edges. Our RV-reroof link shows pictures of the rubber roof.

I used Mop&Glo, 2 coats, on the roof this past spring. It stopped all of the streaks. So far no negatives and it has survived mother nature well, outside on the roof. It took 1 large bottle per coat.
