I have a 2006 TS 42 DS04. It has a Flexsteel leather couch. The three back cushions remove and the bottom flips forward to make a bed.

The couch itself seems to be bolted to the floor with simple sheet metal or wood screws (not large bolts).

There are no seat belts.

Can a shop install 3 seat belts?

Has anyone done it?

Thanks,
Tom

Tom,

The previous owners had three seatbelts (lap belts) installed for the couch on my motorhome. A steel plate (approx. 5" wide, 6' long and 1/8" or possibly 3/16" thick) was welded to the structural steel on the bottom of the slide and the seatbelts are bolted through the floor and plate. The couch is also bolted, but I'm not sure if that was modified or the original installation.

I'm surprised that it did not come with seat belts. we have a 2008 Georgetown XL and seat belts came with our leather featherweight couch.

I had the factory install seat belts in our coach, they welded an angle iron about 11/2" by 3/16 by 6' under the slide against the outside edge and bolted the belt retainers through it. Al 2007 Alante

Tom-
As the previous owner of this I was thinking that for some reason that there were seat belts installed already.
They were under the couch and not readily seen. I never used them. You have to open the couch part way and look under. I think they were there already because I commented once tha t we should at least get them out.
I may be dreamin' but I thought they were there.

Craig, great to hear from you again.

I just went out and looked everywhere under the couch (the slide was in). There isn't a hint of seat belts. There are no straps attached to the couch frame and no holes in the carpet. I looked under cushions - between cushions - back wall. They would have to be at the gap between the back cushions and seat cushions.

In daylight tomorrow, I will put the slide out and look under the slide.

Two separate questions, if you don't mind.

What did you use to wax the exterior? This RV looks new. No one believes it's 4 years old.

Were you happy with the satellite dome reception? I haven't gotten a receiver yet but thinking about DirectTV. I heard that you need a clear view to the west / southwest.

Tom-
Sorry about the seat belts. I could have sworn they were there. Must be old age playing mind tricks.
As for waxing. I used a Meguires liquid wax, carnuaba I think. Red bottle. Easy to put on & take off but be sure to set aside a good day to do it all. Spread out the time over a weekend. It was waxed twice a year and always garaged to keep out of Texas sun & heat.
As for satellite we had Dish Network in there and it worked well. You had to manually switch (push button) to switch between satellite 110 & 119. The satellite or receiver will not select both/either automatically.
I think the dish is set up for Dish network and there is a switch or adjust to use a Diredt TV receiver. I think King Dome can advise on that. The additional receiver in nthe coach was $5.00 / month. However let me advise if the receiver sits 2-3 weeks without being used you won't be able to pick up and will have to call Dish to re-boot the thing.
Hope you are still enjoying and looking forward to the days drawing closer to the retirement.
Happy travels!
Craig
