On my 06 Select shower, I thought the drain screen removed by turning counterclockwize, no?

Tried that, but even using force that is starting to bend it, I'm not getting it to budge.

Any suggestions?

I removed my screen by prying around the edge with a screwdriver to loosen the calcium deposits that were holding it in place, some CLR might help. Mine is a press fit it does not screw or turn.
