Jayco Purchase - Add-Ons Questions

Hi everyone;

We did it! Yesterday we purchased our first Class C motorhome from JAYCO, the Greyhawk Prestige 29 MVP.

During the closing the Business Manager offered several upgrades to consider and was wondering everyone's opinion of these offers.

The first is the MAXXGARD coating on the exterior and interior of the coach. The price tag is around $1,300 for 5 year warranty. With the JAYCO 3 layer Gel Coat exterior is this necessary as added protection?

The next item is the Classic Plus Coverage for Motor Homes in the Route 66 RV Network as an extended warranty for 5 years. This covers everything with a $66 deductible for Route 66 dealers or $100 deductible for non route 66 dealer. The price tag is around $3,000.00. Has anyone purchased this coverage and likes it or is it overkill.

Thanks

Congrats on the new rig. Those are pretty standard up-sells whether its a motor home or an automobile. There's quite a large markup on such things so they really like to push them. They like to play on your excitement for the new baby in the household. A couple cans of wax, scotch guard, and a little elbow grease will do the same thing if not better.

As for the extra warranties its too late now to start second guessing how well built your new rig is. If you think its going to need at least $3000 in repairs after the factory warranty expires go for it. The odds are in your favor it won't. Thats why they sell it. Cheers

I never buy any upgrade from the dealer for those type of things. For that price you can have it waxed several times. A Good Sam Warranty is much better. We bought our Jayco a year ago and it has a two year warranty on the RV and a three year warranty on the E 450. After that I will look into a program with Good Sam.

DID IT - 2018 Jayco Greyhawk 26J

We have been with the Forum for some time, but more on the Monaco side. We had a 40 ft Diplomat and then down to a 33 Ft Monarch. Finally getting into this new 26J Greyhawk a few weeks ago. Like the package , warranty, E450 and good dealership. No problems to report and always looking for ways to improve the coach.....which have started by replacing the foam folding mattress in the rear. Having a special folding innerspring made to fit that odd ball tight fit slide layout. The original was 60 x 70 and width was too tight of a fit to make the bed. The new one is 57 x 72 folded out and should be easier to fit although giving up 3 inches in width.
Best to all ya.
