Be aware that there have been reports of handling problems (on the road) with the 29' Jayco motorhomes. Do some research as I found quite a few articles about problems with the 29' units, but their larger 32' units don't seem to have the same issues. And, do your homework on the Ford F53 chassis and how folks improve handling with rear tracking bar, front tracking bar, Summo springs, etc.
As a Newmar Bay Star owner, I'd say that between the Newmar and the Jayco, Newmar is the winner by a wide margin.
I also suggest looking at the following information:

I understand your reason for wanting to stay at 30' or under, but in my opinion, you can bump that up to 34-35' and find sites available in most campgrounds. We looked at a Newmar Bay Star that was considered 29' but actually measured out at around 30'. It was a great unit, but I noticed that there was little room to add a chair. You also lose a little compartment storage area space. Our 3302 which is just shy of 34' gives a bit more room with two couches and more storage compartment space....but, it does reduce the weight capacity for gear, personal belongings, etc. So, I suggest looking at other floor plans and/or rigs when looking at Newmar Bay Star units.
