slide lube

Does anyone know if the slides in the T/S motorhomes need any kind of lubrication on the rails?

Yes, the experts at Midwest Coach RV repair recommend that you use a white spray on grease on the gears periodically. You can see them from under the slide when it is out, raise the rubber flap a little and spray it right on the gear, they will continue to work great. just my experience. Gene

Actually, both rigs are really very nice. We spent a few days in wine country RV in prosser,WA. and had people asking to see our coach. Another question if you don't mind. Is there are starting point for tire pressures for our coach's with a basic load to start at? It was mentioned to not run the pressure to high and you will get a smoother ride. I did see where you, slabman, had set your front's to about 115 or so. Any thoughts.

I have to run my fronts at at least 110 psi because of the load. However, I run the drive axle tires at 85 psi and the tag axle at 75 as per Spartan recommendation for the load that mine scales out. Gene

My 07 Alante is nose heavy, right on the max for the front axle, Spartan weighed it and told me to run 120 in the front and 80 in the back. Yes, it does ride rather harshly over any bumps in the road, but the tires seem to be wearing well. Al

Yup...I'm right in the middle at 115# front and about 85-90 on the rears. My front axle weighed 6760 on the left and 7290 on the right. So Spartan suggested I use an average of 7000# to set the tire pressure. The rears have so much over-capacity that they don't need much pressure at all.

Isn't it interesting how much 3 Alantes can vary in weights?

I also installed the Koni FSD shocks in front and they made a very noticeable difference in softening the ride.
