Slideout toppers

Our 2006 40 ft Envoy has a problem with the topper in the living room slideout drivers side. When I got home from work we were having 50-70 mile winds for the next couple days. The 4 slideouts were open we were getting ready for a short trip. The wind opened the canvas all the way out, no rips or tears but it would not stay put as I hand roller the topper up. There was a lever on one end but no tenson on the gearing. Has anyone had to fix this before?

I work for a dealer. If your slide topper is like most awnings there is one spring inside the roll that runs the full length of the awning. This allows the right amount of tention to be set on the roll. To much and it will cause the top of the slide box to pull inward creating a possible water leak at the upper slide gasket. To little and it unrolls. If this spring was pulled out to fast by the winds it could have come out of adjustment or possible snapped. There is a tension tool needed to wind the spring and reset if not broken. You will most likely need to bring it to a dealer. They can replace just the spring if broken. Let me know if you need additional info.
