Garranch.....Many of us peen the center joint to make that tighter and is really only needed once a year or so. Your issue is probably more associated with the end of the one arm. If you get on a ladder and look, the end of one arm, where they meet in the middle has a bend in it. The bend is what produces the friction and causes the door to stay open. Rebending the arm with a crescent wrench over the end of it will solve your issue. The other thing that I do is that on days where I'm not worried about the wind, I don't open my door to the full locked position. I just open it until it starts to lock. This saves on prematurely requiring another adjustment. Ours has been good for 5.5 years of use.
