Saggin slide syndrome. When closed the large drivers side slide has settled about 3/4". There is an adjustment under the opened slide to adjust the slide on the moving brackets. Mine is all out of adjustment, why? what has changed since new? Are the rollers worn or the rollling surface worn? How do I expose the rollers?

It works fine but it hits the top of the cargo hatches , not a good thing.

thoughts?
thanks

Well first you have 3 rollers under the o1 Diplomat large living room slide. Two are accessed inside your cabinets. One is in the cabinet next to the couch and the other under the cook-top. To access them you have to remove a black plastic cover just inside the cabinet. You will need to remove the drawers under the cook-top. These two rollers move in and out with the slide. The third roller is stationary. It is located under the front of the slide and the access to it is through the driver’s wheel well. There is a plastic cover over it.

Put the slide out about 6”, then back off the adjusting bolts on each end or each roller. Now run the bolts down so they just touch the floor, and then one half turn more. Do this on all three rollers. Now move the slide back in and make sure the rollers turn and are still on the floor. That should take care of the rollers. You can remove each roller and inspect and clean them.

If all is OK now run the slide out all the way while listening for any indication of binding as the slide moves. If you hear any strange noise – STOP – until you determine what the noise is and adjust as necessary. There are slide adjustments on the outside of the slide that change the height. They should be adjusted so the paint / stripes / and trim molding all line up.

On my slide rollers, the tab to stop the bolt from moving was not bent up to the bolt. Once you are satisfied with the adjustment, you may want to bend it to the bolt side. Or you could use Locktite on the threads to prevent them from moving thus changing the alignment.

Rex the rollers seem to contact fine. I don't have a problem in operating the slide. But when it is in the closed position it sags below the trim about 3/4". I opened the slide and saw where to adjust it up so everything lines up. The problem I'm having is my adjustment is maxed already and I need to raise the slide 3/4" still. It's like my slide arms have somehow changed mounting height when closed.I can't find anyway to raise the slide arms enough so I can get my adjusters back into a useable range. Does the rollers affect this at all?

The rollers only seem to support the slide on the inboard side. What supports the outboard side of the slide when closed. It appears that is where my problem is.

Again, Rex thanks for your abundance of knowledge and shared wealth.

Saggy

I have the same problem on my front driver side slide. The adjustment is on the end of the slide arms. Like yours mine are already maxed out from the factory. I am thinking I will have to cut new plates and bolt/weld them on. It's on my spring project list.

My 2008 Endeavor had the same problem, I had a new rear arm assy installed, but that didn't resolve the issue. The only fix the dealer did (without my previous agreement) was to notch the trim above the bay doors so the arm wouldn't ride on them anymore. I was kinda mad about the fix at the time, but I stopped at the factory in May and they told me that it was an approved fix, go figure! They ended up trimming the lower flange off the arm also to help clear the bay doors when the slide was out.

Well there is one more roller you should look at. It is about in the center of the cabinets, but the access is in an outside compartment. That roller (which I forgot to tell you about) and the one at the front of the slide, do not move with the slide. Only the two accessed through the cabinets move with the slide, and they support the weight of the slide when it is closed. The two stationary rollers on the outside wall can be adjusted and have more to do with the alignment when the slide is closed.

If your height adjustments are at their limits, don't know what to tell you to do next. You might give Monaco Tech Support a call and see what they can offer.

Hi there this is my first time at this but I feel I can ad to the conversation.
I have a 2001 38d and had the same problem. Look under your slide and see if the rollers there are 5 total 3 at floor level access in bays and under front wheel and 2 inside at the places already mentioned. When you look under slide see if the slide has some indentation at the roller marks. If so what I did was to get 1/8th aluminum sheet stock and cut to fie larger than roller marks for the rollers to ride on. then adjust rollers to the height to align your molding. you will also need to check the inside rollers to keep slide level. After you are satisfied with the operation don't forget to bend the locking tabs back up or the bolts will loosen and put you out of adjustment again. Hope this can help you. It takes a little time and patience.

Thunder, if you "shimmed with 1/8" stock did that raise the slide only an 1/8" also?
Mine needs at least 1/2"

Between the flat stock eliminating the slight sag from the rollers on the bottom of the slide and the height adjustment left on the rollers I was able to align up to the trim. If I were to do it again I might be tempted to use 1/4 inch stock. That would have given me some extra roller adjustment.

Does anyone know if the 2002 Diplomats used the same type of slide assembly, that was used in the 2001 model year? Mine don't sag as yet, but I just want to keep it checked if there is a potential issue here. Thanks for any knowledge or experience that you may be able to offer.
Take care.
David
