Today we traveled about 400 miles to a state park near Conway, AR and about a mile from the park I could hear a air leak from the street side rear when I was setting at a stop light with the brakes applied. When we arrived at the park and I was paying for our site the air leak got louder and the street side rear air bags defated. We made it to the site and dumped all air so we could extend the slides and setup camp. It was too dark to look at anything tonight so that is first task for the morning.

My first question is.... Do I look for air hose problem, air bag problem or both? The coach is way too low for me to get under it so not sure how to even begin but I will.

My second question is.... If I can't get the parts and fix it myself, does anyone know of a GREAT mobile repair company in the Little Rock, AR area?

I will check with Monaco tomorrow morning but they are 2 hours behind us in time so I don't want to waste the time waiting for them.

Also... sorry it is a 03 not an 02 which are probably the same

Sounds like a broken fitting or air line. I am not familiar with your coach so can't help you locate problem more specifically. Perhaps you could start engine and duplicate the air leak so you can narrow it down while it's running......and leaking.
As for getting under the coach maybe you can find some solid lumber ramps to put the rear wheels on to give you safe access to frame area.

KIX, thanks for the ramp suggestion... I have some of those ramps about 400 miles from here :-) The outside drive tire is actually rubbing up against a 1" x 1" brace so I don't want to move it much!

At worst case you could mound up some dirt with bricks, broken concrete, etc to get the rears on. Or maybe a street curb?? I'm sure there's very little room with the suspension deflated.

Well I would put the slides in so as not to damage them or cause the frame to twist. The build air, shut the engine off and look for the leak being careful NOT to get under the coach where it would come down on you. At least you can isolate part of the area. It could be an air line or the bag itself.

You have a very heavy coach, and I assume with air leveling, so you have nothing to hold the coach up without air. You will need a good size jack to lift the rear axle but that may not help locate the problem. You need to lift the chassis off the running gear like the air bags do. If only one rear air bag is deflated, try building air and jack that side only.

You will have two air bags on each wheel. Either one could be the problem, or it could just be an air line. The air lines insert into the fitting. To remove them, use an open end wrench that just fits over the air line and press HARD against the fitting and at the same time pull on the air line. You will notice a space between the fitting and it's body where the air line is inserted. You may need to spray some WD-40 or water on this to clean it out first. Road dirt gets in the space and will keep it from compressing so you can get the air line out. If you need to install a new air line, make sure the end is cut flush so it fits correctly. It connect an air line, just press it into the fitting. If you have a broken air line, you can bet a BUT splice or new fittings and air line at the local NAPA store.

Best of luck

Thanks for the suggestions. We are at our current location for a funeral of a very close cousin so I decided that I didn't need the hassle of fixing the coach myself. I found a local truck repair that sent a tech out and between him being under the coach and my limited knowledge of the air system we think we found the problem, a leaking air pressure control. However, still not 100% sure and won't be until tomorrow when the tech returns with one to install.

FYI, to those that may have a problem like this with an air-bag-only coach. Just get the air pressure up, raise the side of the coach that still works and put wood blocks between the frame and the coach and you will have plenty of room to roll around under the coach!!

With the rear it could be a ride height lever has come loose. The rear has two and the front just one. Mine is in front of the tire area. You might be able to see it if you use your leveling jacks. Once the coach is up on the jacks you can place a jack stand under it for safety.

YC1, Thanks for the suggestion and schematic. I have the correct schematics and service manuals for my coach. I don't have jacks I have 10 air bags that level and etc.

However, at this point in time it is fixed... but not sure what fixed it. We replaced the leaking air pressure regulator and that didn't fix it. I didn't think it would but the mechanic/tech thought it would and it needed replaced anyway. He pulled all the fuses in the controller and when he put them all back in the coach aired up to the travel position. I dumped and raised the coach multiple times and never could get it to malfunction again.

My belief is we had a stuck valve, the controller was confused or something else. It is fixed for now but I believe it will happen again so I am going to study the manuals and know all I can about the HWH air system. Even the tech at HWH was baffled!

We wll get back on the road next week and pray for the best!
