07 Monaco Diplomat Trailer brake Controller

I just bought this 07 Monaco Diplomat. I need to install a trailer brake controller. I drag race and my trailer is about 10k lbs. I have a P3 controller. I've got every thing connected except I need to find the brake light switch to get the 12VDC brake light power to the controller. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or can tell me where to find the switch.

Thanks

Trailer wiring.

Here is a picture for the hookup. M-66 is the plug under the dash.

1967Nova-

Your coach was prewired for a trailer electric brake controller. There should be a connector under the dash for this purpose. It contains all the signals you need. See this link for details.

It would not be difficult to make a plug-and-play harness to go between the Monaco wiring connector and the P3 controller. That would eliminate the need to splice into the factory wiring, or to cut off the factory connector.

Our RV did not come pre-wired so I had to tap into a brake light switch (hobbs switch) under the dash area where the generator slide out is. It's a ground system for the brake lights so I had to wire a small relay to convert the ground over to a 12V signal when the brakes are applied. I have a 69 Nova by the way. Good luck.

Thanks Everyone

Thanks everyone, I was pretty sure I needed to put in a relay to get the 12VDC but wasn't sure.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! Sorry I can't help with the wiring problem. Keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

This is what I did also. It was a little difficult to locate the connector but using a sniffer made it a snap and I was able to connect the P3 using the factory wires. They were even labeled.

Send a message via ICQ to Ivylog
I found my prewired plug tied to the data ports to the left of the steering column.
