I have no experience with the Safari specifically but I would say that any/all Monaco product would have to be cheap. The reason for this is that all Monaco products have dropped in price since Monaco went out of business.
I am in Fort Myers in Florida at the moment and day before yesterday I went "shopping" at a local dealer. On his forecourt is a couple of brand new Monaco products that he is trying to sell quickly since they don't want any association with Monaco anymore. Apparently they lost more than $1 million due to Monaco's bankruptcy.
New 40 foot 2008 Monaco Diplomat. The dealer said that they probably would let it go for $170.000.

We bought the Safari Simba in late 2006. It is very similar to the other Monaco models of the same price range. We love it. At the time the CAT diesel was ahead of the curve for meeting requirements and has been very reliable. The build was good and the later model has the stronger trailing arms. We only had the usual shake down issues and have not had any problems. We get 9 to 11 miles to the gallon depending on grade, speed, etc. We have the 8K genset and it is very reliable. Feel free to ask any other questions.

Ours is great. We had to deal with the trailing arm issue of course. Other then the normal minor things when it was new it's a good unit. We love the four slide outs, really opens it up inside.

Gary, you may want to keep a close eye on your trailing arms. Your year of Simba came with the Monaco recall upgrade arms. Those arms are also currently failing on all models with the RR4R Chassis. If you called or were told they were the stronger arms, in fact they are stronger that the ones pre-recall, however they are not the newest versions by Monaco and Source Engineering. If you were to call Monaco tech support, they will confirm what I am telling you. They are gun shy, so you have to ask the right questions.
Please accept this with the intent it was written. I am not trying to anger anyone or scare you, however, the arms you have could be dangerous and when they crack and they will, it can be far more expensive to repair than post catastrophic failure.

dane, that apears to be about 36% off. don't take this wrong but that's not a super cheap deal on a 08 coach new or used. most any 08 whatever brand would go for that or less. just my opinion. jim

Jim,
A new 2008 Monaco with a sticker of $269K should sell for about $135K (50% discount). Maybe with an aftermarket warranty that includes the house portion, $140K. It would not come with a warranty on the Coach, but would have a warranty on many of the components including the engine and transmission. It also would not qualify for any factory paid recalls.
These low prices have hurt the value of used Monaco Products because of the sales of stagnant inventory at reduced prices due to lack of warranty! In addition, it is a 2008 when they are now delivering 2011s.

Here is a link to more than one make of new 2008 DPs for sale at one west coast dealer Inventory. Here is another west coast dealer that has left over 2008 & 2009 Monaco products at a better price than your Ft Meyers dealer. DeMartini R.V. Sales, Recreational vehicles (RVs), Holiday* Rambler** Motorhomes, Monaco Motorhomes, Monaco Coach Corporation, Endeavor, Scepter,** Imperial, Dynasty,* Windsor, Camelot, Navigator, Vacationer, Admiral,** Ambassador, trailers, campers, . That $170K should buy a left over 2009 or 2010, not a 2008.

This is not a Diplomat but it gives you an idea of used pricing. This coach has less than 5,000 miles on it! I have nothing to gain if you bought from this firm except that I bought mine there, but I wanted you to see how quality coaches in that year are priced. This is just a sample picked at random. Joe
