Have our new 09 Camelot 42KFQ now and am getting to know it. I have a couple of questions that someone might be able to answer.
First concerns the solar panel charge controller. We have a solar panel and the manual tells me the charge controller is located in the passthrough bay overhead. I can't find it. The coach has two passthrough bays: the buss transfer switch is in the front bay overhead and the inverter is in the second passthrough bay overhead. There is no solar panel charge controller that I can see. There is information presented on the controller that it would be nice to monitor so I would like to find it. Does anyone know where it is located?
Second concerns the Prevent-A-Freeze antifreeze tank. The manual says that the tank is "behind the service center". Not sure what "behind" means but there is no bay behind the service center so I assume they mean somewhere in the service center bay. I can't find the tank so it doesn't appear I can use the system to winterize the coach.
For info I have looked in every nook and cranny I can find for these two items with no luck. Anyone with this equipment and the same coach with feedback will be helpful. Thanks.
Lew

Can't help with the solar thing--though I'd be interested because I want to add solar to my coach.
I have a 42PDQ and the winterizing tank is reached from the last pass through bay (the bay immediately in front of the service bay). On the aft bulkhead of the bay there is an access panel to the tank that holds the anti-freeze. The tank holds 2 - 3 gallons by my eyeball. This access panel also provides access to the water pump and the winterizing solenoid valve. I've found it easiest to extend the slide tray out the curb side then I can lay down in the bay, open the access and add the anti-freeze to the tank.

Lew... the solar panel regulator cover looks like the thing on the back wall in this photo (at least in our rig)
Here is a close-up of the cover.
I do know your coach is not anything like mine now...but I figure the solar regulator cover might look the same.
Good Luck Lew!!

The Prevent-A-Freeze tank is just where you indicated on our coach. Thanks, it would have been a long time before I found it. When they said "behind the service center" they really meant behind - a long way behind.
I am not sure what to tell you about the solar panel, ours was installed by the factory so I am not sure what it takes to install later. There is a monitor on the panel with the ECS, thermostats, tank level check, etc. and it gives a number of systems operating indications - charge rate, battery condition, temp, etc. According to the owners manual there is a "charge controller" in the pass-through storage bay. I will start looking under screwed on panels now and maybe I will find it.
MM, I am not sure the system is the same on this coach. The pictures you sent look like my old Endeavor but the electric control and distribution is very different on this one. I'll continue to look. At least we solved half of the mystery. Thanks to all.

Lew,
Mine is mounted to the ceiling in the compartment where the water pump is. It doesn't have a cover on it like MM's does. Take your flashlight and look for a 2" X 5" black box with white lettering, and, of course, wires attached to it. That is, if they didn't change suppliers again.

thanks, I"m told the coach is pre-wired and sure enough on the roof is a label indicating the location of the solar panel wiring. I'll probably take it back to the dealer I bought it from, so I won't have to deal with figuring out where the wires end up. I just want enough panel capacity to keep the batteries charged.

Pat, Harry, MM
Two mysteries solved in one compartment. The antifreeze tank and the solar panel charge controller are in the same compartment. This compartment is accessed through a screwed on cover in the rear pass through compartment. The charge controller is attached to the top of the compartment, and looks like the SunSaver controller pictured in the manual.
Pat I suspect that the wiring for the sonar panel from the roof probably goes to the overhead of this compartment. Look in your coach users manual, page 185 in mine, and you can see the wire hookups for the controller (Morningstar). My guess is that the wiring for the panel and the battery supply is rolled up in overhead of this compartment. Good luck.
MM thanks for the feedback. The electrics on the old Endeavor were simpler that on this coach - things are spread our all over the place on this coach. Some things better, some things not as convenient. Oh well.

Thanks, I did notice collection of unused of wires hanging down from the ceiling they may run to the roof, if so that would be good--at least I know where the wires are!

My '09 Camelot 42FKQ did not come with any solar panel, not even a trickle charger. I did see the sticker on the roof, and expect that one day I will add some panels. But the label is quite large, and I for sure would like to know exactly where the wires are and where and how big a hole would access it. So if anyone knows exactly what and where the wires are I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks to everyone for the solar panel controller and the antifreeze tank locations. My slide tray is usally pretty full of stuff, so it would have been a LONG time before I found either of those items.
Now I am wondering if there is a similar cache of goodies behind some secret panel in the front slide tray area.

I have couple more questions you guys might help with.
In the same compartment as the solar charge controller and the antifreeze tanks there is a large heat exchanger/radiator mounted to the floor of the compartment. There are two hoses connected to it. It looks like it must be some type of heat for the bay but it is not listed in the owners manual.
Top picture is the heat exchanger.
I also find what looks like a thermo snap disk at the end of a coil of wire hanging from the overhead opposite the heat exchanger. In the compartment is the "standard" system heat electric heater that I had on my Endeavor.
Bottom picture shows that device and the antifreeze tank.
MM - how do I make the pictures show up in the text and not at the bottom of the post??
Thanks to everybody for your help.
Lew

I think it's the heater for the service bay. I have a switch at the panel for the slide outs that turns it on and off. The switch is labelled "system heat," it's described on page 147 of my owners manual.

Pat, the "system heat" heater is further to the right in the bay - this picture does not show it. It is a small electric heater. I have that heater in the bay as well as the heat exchanger in the picture. It looks like the AquaHot must send hot water through this heat exchanger but I haven't figured out if that is really the case and if so how it is controlled. We'll keep noodling on it.
Incidentally, Pat is the Capt from a military background? I spend 35 years in the Navy and over eight years as a Capt.

Lew... the way you are doing your photos via attachment is not how I post my photos...I always upload to the iRV2 photo album and then post them where ever I want them.
Evidently the way to do it via attachment is a bit different - but one of the Excel members has the answer that he posted in one of our threads...

PS..I got your PM..I will work on it!
