Is there a site or can I call on someone's knowledge of the Monaco Hierarchy from 1995 - 1997.
I would like to know where the Crown Royal Signature was in the model line for 1995
I would also like to know where the Executive and the Dynasty Baron IV stood in the model line for 1997.
I think Nada lists them alphabetically.
Thanks,
Don

In the mid 90s, Monaco's top model was the Signature. Next to that, the Executive, next to that, the Dynasty. All those models shared the same semi-monocoque frame design. I believe in the later 90s, Monaco introduced the Windsor, which shared the same frame design, and was a less expensive option compared to the Dynasty.

Hi Jim What was the difference between the Dynasty and the Windsor? I have a 97 Windsor and it has the rr8s chassis and the 8.3l 330hp Cummins and Allison MD3060. Was the difference inside or were there other differences in the chassis? Thanks Jim

I think the Crown Royal was a custom conversion. Rare and supposedly equal to any of the Prevost conversions.

Yiou are correct...The Crown Royal was Monaco's attempt at the custom market built on a Prevost, a really nice coach and the "Mac Daddy" of the Monaco line up.
If I remember correctly, the Camelot coach replaced the Winsor coach.

I wish I had more info on the Crown Royale. I remember that it was Monaco's first attempt at a high end coach. They retailed at double the price of any other Monaco. At first they used the Roadmaster chassis. Monaco purhased the rights to the Roadmaster from Chrysler who was redesiging their M600 chassis. Some Crown Royales were built with rear engine 454's! I saw one at Marathon that was built on a Prevost. Very nice.

What years was the Crown Royal built with the Prevost chassis? I will be looking at a 1995 Crown Royal Signature this Friday.

97 Windsor,
In the 90s, the Dynasty and the Windsor were essentially the same coach. Apparently the Windsor was designed to be at a little better price point, and I understand that the only difference was in the interior woodwork. I haven't looked inside a Windsor, so I don't know. I do know that all the woodwork in our Dynasty is solid oak. There are no veneers or imitation wood. The original flooring was ceramic tile in the kitchen, and carpet throughout, which we have since changed out for vinyl flooring throughout and carpet in the bedroom.

d.weber: I am sorry I do not know the history of the chassis. If you ask that question on the Monacoers Yahoo forum there will be an answer.

Hi Jim Thanks for the info.
On my Windsor the woodwork is solid oak everywhere but the small toilet room trim. I've looked at that small amount of trim and wondered why Monaco did that.
The living room and bedroom have carpet, (living room soon to changed to tile) the kitchen is hardwood floor and the bathroom is vinyl floor.
Thanks again Jim

97 Windsor,
So, I think that answers the question. I think that during the 90s, the Windsor was essentially the same coach as the Dynasty. Monaco simply offered their coach with the new name "Windsor" in order to compete in a slightly lower price market.
We changed our flooring mainly because it was beginning to look worn. The two things that we did not appreciate with the factory flooring was the bathroom carpet and the kitchen ceramic tile.
We did not like the bathroom carpet because ... well, you know. We did not like the kitchen ceramic tile because it was a fright to walk on with bare feet. Especially up here in Canada, that ceramic tile can be awfully cold!

Monaco marketed their top line coach as the Crown Royal and also the Signature until around 1994. In 1995, they began to drop the Crown Royal name and call it the Signature. I think they did that for taxation reasons, it split the market if some coaches were sold as Crown Royals and some as Signatures. Something like the Pontiac - Chevrolet story.
The Crown Royal was the Signature with the name changed. That meant it had the Roadmaster Chassis, Cummins 6C8.3 engine, and the Allison 6 speed transmission.

Maybe I need to rethink the tile in the L/R because we do camp until the real cold weather comes to Ohio. We are staying in it tomorrow for a wedding recpt and the forecast is 36 low
