1995 Holiday Rambler Imperial 37WDS will not start

just bought the RV from a private seller. Everything was fine for about 15 miles. Windshield wipers would not come on so we pulled over to look at them and wait out the rain. When I got up from the drivers seat, a do not shift light came on and oil temp light. So I shut off the engine.Checked fuses for the wipers, all good. Attempted to restart and lights came on like normal but would not start. But now the wipers work. Also very odd smell coming from engine when trying to restart. Checked voltage on batteries, checked oil. And after all this the step will not come out. Oh yeah, and the ignition switch turns. RV was always in a shed, but not used a lot. Really like the RV and the people are nice but just wondering should I dig into it or run?

In good condition, this is a very nice coach. From the brief description, your problems sound electrical. MHs that are infrequently driven tend to have corroded high-power electrical connections at the batteries, starter, etc., that need cleaning, as well as clogged fuel filters, that prevent starting. If you intend to do most of the maintenance in this thing, I would lean toward diagnosis and repair. To get moving, I would get it to a competent shop for evaluation and diagnosis.

I had a very similar problem with my '98 HR 38WDS.

Was at a loss until I got some excellent suggestions from some of the very knowledgeable folks here.

Found exactly what Slowmachine suggested about the corroded and/or loose ground connections. Something that I would never have thought of.

You'll find that the folks here have a wealth of knowledge and all are willing to pass it along.
